Sean Holley
In 2004, Sean formed STAR Motorsports, LLC. Sean, the Founding Owner, holds the position of President/Chief Executive Officer. Sean oversees all facets of operations of STAR. This company has been established to create businesses related to motor sports and entertainment, while also encouraging diversity and inclusion throughout motor sports.
In 2007, Sean was named one of the Top 70 Most Influential African-Americans in the Automotive Industry.
Sean, born in Washington, DC, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island in 1984, where he majored in Economics. He also has received a Law Degree from The Columbus School of Law/Catholic University in Washington, DC. He has received many honors, such as academic scholarships, and being named to “Who’s Who Among American Law Students” and “Outstanding Young Men of America”. He has established a strong legal foundation, having practiced law and clerked for judges at the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and Superior Court.
Sean has extensive experience in the sports industry. In 1987, he joined the law firm of Lang, Straus, Xifaras & Bullard in Massachusetts, where he represented athletes. Later he joined the staff of The BIG EAST CONFERENCE, where he assisted in all facets of operating a major collegiate athletic conference. In addition, Sean has significant experience in sports television, having assisted with The BIG EAST CONFERENCE Television Network, The BIG EAST Football Conference Television Network, NBC Television Network, and USA Television Network. After leaving The BIG EAST, Sean then held the following positions at Bob Woolf Associates, a Sports and Entertainment Agency: Associate General Counsel/Marketing and Public Relations Director, Senior Vice President; and President/Sports Division.
In 1995, after the passing of Bob Woolf, Sean started his own Sports and Entertainment organization, HOLLEY ENTERPRISES. Sean, along with being the chief negotiator, directed all facets of the daily operations of the organization, represented, advised, counseled, and assisted the clients in the negotiation, execution, and enforcement of his/her athletic and/or entertainment contract. He also supervised and developed marketing and public relations opportunities for the clients.
Helping athletes and entertainers make difficult decisions that will have a profound effect on their athletic career has been Sean’s task for many years. He has handled contract negotiations and/or marketing for such athletes as: Larry Bird (NBA), Robert Brooks (NFL), Scott Burrell (NBA), Keith Closs (NBA), “Bimbo” Coles (NBA), Adrian Dantley (NBA), Terry Dehere (NBA), Eddie Elisma (NBA), LaPhonso Ellis (NBA), Tom Glavine (MLB), Qadry “Missile” Ismail (NFL), Raghib “Rocket” Ismail (NFL), Florence “FloJo” Griffith-Joyner (Track), Bernard King (NBA), Donny Marshall (NBA), Natrone Means (NFL), Chris Morris (NBA), Robert Parish (NBA), Khalid Reeves (NBA), “Dickey” Simpkins (NBA), Anthony Smith (NFL), Michael Smith (NBA), Otis Thorpe (NBA), Mo Vaughn (MLB), Charles Way (NFL), Gerald Wilkins (NBA), Eric Williams (NBA), Shammond Williams (NBA), and many others.
In 2004, Sean joined forces with CSMG Sports LTD, based in Chicago, which represents baseball, basketball, football, and individual sports athletes, such as: JJ Arrington (NFL), Dre Bly (NFL), Michael Finley (NBA), Juan Gonzalez (MLB), Tim Hardaway (NBA), Devin Harris (NBA), Randy Johnson (MLB), Shaun Livingston (NBA), Edgar Martinez (MLB), Donovan McNabb (NFL), Orlando Pace (NFL), Antwaan Randle El (NFL), and Dwyane Wade (NBA).
Sean has appeared on Black Entertainment Television (BET) featuring the nation’s top African-American Sports Lawyers/Agents. In regards to Sports Law and Agents, on the lecture circuit, Sean is a sought after speaker, lending his expert analysis and opinion on a variety of topics, including but not limited to sports law, collective bargaining, agent regulations, and opportunities in the sports field. He is a member of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), and the National Football league Players Association (NFLPA), and negotiates contracts for WNBA, NBDL, and other professional sports athletes. He has been a member of the Agent Advisory Committee for the NBPA. Also, Sean is a member of the American Bar Association Forum Committee on the Entertainment & Sports Industries, Sports Lawyers Association, and the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association.
