Universal Technical Institute Elects Barry Fodor to Board of Directors

PHOENIX, Dec. 1, 2009 – The Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation, an Arizona 501(c)(3) nonprofit, today announced the election of Barry Fodor of Nissan North America to its board of directors. Fodor brings more than 35 years of experience in the automotive industry to the board that supports technical education at UTI (NYSE: UTI) for the automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle, marine and NASCAR industries through scholarships, grants, career development and other special programs.

“The UTI Foundation is pleased to welcome Barry Fodor to our board,” said Don Ableson, president and chairman of the UTI Foundation board. “His extensive knowledge and industry relationships are important to ensuring that dealers and manufacturers support students seeking careers as professional technicians.”

Fodor manages parts and service programs involving business growth, marketing, customer retention and technical support for Nissan North America. He also leads technician recruitment efforts for Nissan and Infiniti dealerships through associations with the Nissan Automotive Technical Training Program at UTI, Automotive Youth Educations Systems (AYES) and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

“I hope to use my automotive background to further align the UTI Foundation with industry employers that can provide the funding students need to complete their technical education,” said Fodor.

Fodor started his career at Ford Motor Company in development, product service support and technical training. He lives with his wife in Nashville, Tenn. where he collects and restores cars.
