Universal Technical Institute Foundation Partners with Charlotte Motor Speedway to Assist Students

4/14/2010

PHOENIX, April 15, 2010 – Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation today announced a partnership with the Charlotte Motor Speedway that could generate more than $10,000 in annual support for students in need at UTI’s NASCAR Technical Institute (NTI) in Mooresville, N.C. NTI will provide student volunteers to help support events at Charlotte Motor Speedway in return for donations made to the UTI Foundation. The funds will support NTI’s Student Pantry and Student Emergency Fund that assist students with unplanned financial needs.

“We have had an outstanding relationship with the Charlotte Motor Speedway for years,” said Arlyn Davis, director of employment services for NTI. “We are excited to continue the program and provide additional volunteer opportunities for our students, while also enhancing our emergency funds for students in need.”

The annual donation amount depends on the number of events NTI students provide volunteer support and the number of volunteers for each event. In 2009 alone, NTI students donated more than 2,200 hours. Based on past volunteer needs and upcoming events, the 2010 donation is expected to exceed $10,000.

“The donations created by this unique agreement between Charlotte Motor Speedway and NTI will help deserving students finish their education and pursue a successful career in the automotive or motorsports field,” said Veronica Meury, vice president and executive director of the UTI Foundation.

“Our relationship with NTI is mutually beneficial and this is great opportunity for their students to earn additional support for their program,” said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. “NTI students have always provided great volunteer service to events at the speedway and we look forward to their continued support.”
