Scholarship is Part of Brienne Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund PHOENIX, March 17, 2010 – C&R Racing Group wanted to give back to the industry it loves – and it brought some friends along to help. The motorsports component manufacturer, in partnership with the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation, today announced the $3,000 C&R Racing Brienne Davis Scholarship. The scholarship is designated for female students attending any one of UTI’s nine campuses that are interested in pursuing a motorsports career.
C&R Racing owner Chris Paulsen committed the initial $1,000 for the scholarship and secured matching funds from racing legend Lyn St. James and her Women In The Winner’s Circle Foundation and the Henry Ford. The scholarship will be presented annually to one student selected from applications received by the UTI Foundation.
“We are pleased to partner with Lyn St. James and the Henry Ford to create this scholarship,” said Paulsen. “This was our opportunity to give back to the industry and help further the education of students interested in a motorsports career. We look forward to working with the UTI Foundation to recognize a deserving student each year. ”
The scholarship is part of the Brienne Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund – a scholarship program designed to help women gain the education they need to pursue careers in the automotive industry. Davis, a UTI alumnus who went on to become a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series official, died tragically in 2008.
“The Foundation is fortunate to have donors like Chris Paulsen and C&R Racing to support our efforts in helping students achieve their goals,” said Veronica Meury, vice president and executive director of the UTI Foundation. “We are grateful for their support.”
