Hino Motors Donates $25,000 Diesel Truck to Universal Technical Institute Foundation

PHOENIX, Jan. 7, 2010 – The Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation today announced that Hino Trucks has donated a MY 2005 GVW Model 11773 - medium-duty diesel truck valued at $25,000 to advance hands-on training for students seeking a technical degree at Universal Technical Institute, Inc. (NYSE:UTI) in Norwood, Mass. UTI is a provider of technical education for individuals pursuing careers as professional automotive, collision repair, diesel, marine or motorcycle technicians at its 10 campuses nationwide.
“Hino is pleased to make this donation to the UTI Foundation to enhance innovative educational leadership,” said Ryan Hitsman, manager of human resources for Hino Trucks. “Hino Trucks has made a commitment to education by donating vehicles to provide students with knowledge and experience that prepares them to work on diesel trucks as well as new technologies that are important to the environment and current needs of the industry.”

By obtaining valuable hands-on training on state-of-the art-technology, UTI Norwood students will continue to keep pace with frequent EPA changes and exceed industry standards.”

U.S. Department of Labor statistics show that 275,000 diesel technicians were employed in the United States in 2006. The number is expected to increase by 11 percent by 2016.
