UTI Foundation Secures Equipment Donation for UTI-Houston
As many of you learned during the employee contribution campaign last year, the UTI Foundation is a 501(c)3 Arizona non-profit umbrella organization that covers all UTI not-for-profit initiatives and is dedicated to raising funds to further its mission and strategic goals. While the UTI Foundation has been busy, enabling individuals to complete technical training leading to career success by offering scholarships, they have also been working on other exciting opportunities. One of those was securing a donation of materials from the Grainger Corporation for the UTI-Houston campus.
“I worked with Grainger’s Sr. Corporate Philanthropist Laura Coy to accept the donation through the UTI Foundation,” said Veronica Meury, UTI Foundation director. “The donation amounted to approximately $36,000 of materials. It’s the beginning of a great relationship and the foundation is glad to have played a role in making it happen.”
The donation of “as-is merchandise” to UTI was done on May 9. “I initially met with UTI’s Director of Education Ed Fletcher and Facilities Director Don Hudepohl,” said Branch Manager for Grainger Industrial Supply Keith Sobolik. “Both of these individuals were very appreciative of the donation from Grainger to UTI.”
The donation went off without a hitch with both Grainger and UTI very happy with how it worked for everyone involved. The students at UTI-Houston will definitely benefit from the materials donated by Grainger. And for the items that can’t be used by the campus, UTI-Houston is donating them to local high school auto programs.
“I had the opportunity to meet Campus President Ken Golaszewski when we presented the materials and he took me on a full tour of the campus,” added Sobolik. “It was all very impressive. They have a great program there.”
