Universal Technical Institute Foundation to Help Veterans Get their Next Career

8/24/2010

PHOENIX, Aug. 24, 2010 – The Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation is now recognized by the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) as one of its approved charitable programs. One-hundred percent of all CFC contributions to the UTI Foundation will go to grants and scholarships that will directly benefit deserving veterans seeking a technical education at one of Universal Technical Institute’s (UTI) 11 campuses nationwide.

Donations will help students like Jesse E., a recent veteran, who had planned to attend UTI’s Avondale, Ariz. campus immediately following his military service. However, a delay in receiving his final military paycheck put that plan in jeopardy. The UTI Foundation provided emergency funds for Jesse to ensure he could begin school on time, receive money for housing and school fees and get his new life started.

The UTI Foundation and UTI are no strangers to helping veterans. In fact, for 45 years, UTI has been the industry’s choice for training and offers veterans a 15 percent discount to honorably discharged veterans. The UTI Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Arizona non-profit, is the umbrella organization for all UTI not-for-profit initiatives. The Foundation enables deserving students to complete technical training leading to successful careers through scholarships, grants, public service education programs, life-long learning and the creation of a nationwide alumni support network.

“The CFC is the world’s most successful annual workplace charity campaign, and we are honored to be part of this outstanding program,” said Veronica Meury, vice president and executive director of UTI Foundation. “All CFC contributions designated for the UTI Foundation will directly benefit our military veterans by helping them to obtain the technical training they need to transition to a productive civilian career.”
