UTI Foundation helps high schoolers make their dreams a reality with national video contest
Winners share more than $80,000 in scholarships and shop supplies

PHOENIX, Jan. 18, 2011Do you, or a high school senior you know, spend more time under the hood than anywhere else? Universal Technical Institute Foundation announced two exciting national video contests that will award more than $80,000 in scholarships and shop supplies. Launched as part of the activities surrounding the inaugural Drive to Succeed event, students across the U.S. are encouraged to enter and tell UTI Foundation why they want to be a technician or why they want a shop makeover for their high school.

High school seniors interested in a career in the automotive, motorcycle, marine or NASCAR industries can submit a 2-3 minute YouTube-style video sharing with UTI Foundation, “Why I Want to be a Technician” to win a $25,000, $10,000 or $5,000 scholarship to any Universal Technical Institute (UTI) campus. Any high school senior, nationwide, can enter the contest. Be creative, have fun and share your passion with others!

High school students and instructors whose high school auto shops are in need of new supplies can tell UTI Foundation “Why My Auto Shop Needs a Makeover,” in a 2-3 minute YouTube-style video. Product packages valued at $25,000, $10,000 and $5,000 will be awarded to three high schools, nationwide. Any high school with an auto shop can enter, so grab a camera, grab a shop teacher, and rally students to support the high school of your choice!

”The Drive to Succeed video contests allow students with a passion for a career in the automotive industry a chance to make their dreams a reality,” said Veronica Meury, vice president and executive director of the UTI Foundation. “The video contests are a great way for students and teachers to showcase their enthusiasm for this field.”

Entrieswill be judged by the Drive to Succeed Committee to determine the top six finalists, based on originality of content, creativity, and enthusiasm for a career working on cars, trucks, motorcycles or boats. The winners must be able to attend the inaugural Drive to Succeed event at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving on April 2, in Chandler, Ariz. Flights and accommodations will be provided by UTI Foundation for the winners. The contest is open for entries until Feb. 15, 2011. One video entry allowed per person and shop class.

Official rules and more details can be found at http://www.utifoundation.net/UTI-Foundation/Drive-to-Succeed/National-Video-Contest. Winners of each contest will be notified on or around March 8, and will be announced publically at the inaugural Drive to Succeed event in Chandler, Ariz., on April 2.
